Friday 18 January 2019, 12:00 - 14:00

About the Brown Bag Sessions:

The STEP (Singapore) Branch is pleased to introduce its Brown Bag Sessions for STEP members - small informal lunchtime sessions conducted by the Branch for professionals and STEP members to share their experience and knowledge in dealing with tricky practice issues.

About this Session

With the rapid disruptions happening regularly in the finance and technology sectors, it has become ever more critical for trust practitioners to be aware of trends and possible future changes that can impact our daily jobs and careers and that of our staff. Nowhere has digital disruption been more closely felt than in the wealth management industry which the trust industry is closely aligned to, and we cannot afford to not know how the future may look like. To help us prepare and future-proof our careers, this session has been specially curated for accessibility to non-investment specialists such as the bulk of STEP members. Don’t be left wondering who moved your cheese!
This talk starts with a perspective of an industry grappling with the growth of passive investing and the rise of exchange traded funds, then proceeds to an overview of new approaches to Active Investment Management pertaining to active/passive product mix, thematic/ESG investing and “alternative” asset class investments in infrastructure & real estate, private equity, private debt.
The focus will then shift to an overview of new investment product “manufacturing” flexibility brought about by the emergence of Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Factor Investing techniques.
It will then conclude by postulating how the traditional wealth advisory engagement/service models will evolve and what the next generation financial advisor workbench with digital marketing and sales tools may look like.

The session will be limited only to 20 STEP Full members at S$10 nett on a first-come first-served basis!
